Recreational and Occupational Scuba Dive Medicals

Recreation Scuba Dive Medicals are done for three different reasons as a rule. Either;

• You want to know whether you are fit to go scuba diving
• Your Scuba Diving Company wants to know whether you are fit to go scuba diving before you undertake an Open Water Scuba Diving Course
• There is a medical or legislative requirement for you to be assessed as "Fit to Dive" before you undertake an Open Water Scuba Diving Course.

Occupational Scuba Dive Medicals are required yearly if Scuba Diving is an ongoing requirement of the study or work that you do.

We can do recreational and occupational scuba dive medicals.

• Recreational Scuba Dive Medicals are completed in accordance with (Australian Standards) AS4005.1
• Occupational Scuba Dive Medicals are completed in accordance with (Australian Standards) AS2299:2015
• All Scuba Dive Medicals involve a questionnaire, assessment, visual acuity, colour-blindness, hearing, lung function tests, and a consultation with a Scuba Diving Doctor.

AS 4005.1 and AS2299.1:2015 forms;

• Can be provided by your employer or scuba dive company
• Can be provided by us, ;
• Completed at the medical practice when you arrive.

We try to make our scuba dive medical fees as reasonable as possible. However please remember;

• Modern-day testing can be expensive 
• Scuba dive medicals ordinarily require spirometry and audiology and there is a charge for these tests
• An ECG is commonly performed on scuba divers with significant cardiac risk factors, or scuba divers aged fifty or more. 

All of our scuba dive medicals are completed by doctors who have completed further training in underwater medicine in accordance with AS 4005.1 and AS 2299:1:2015.
